Romance Arrangements: Five Different Ways to Pretend
A relationship with terms creates a particular kind of tension: the characters agree to one thing while beginning to want another. The bargain can be public, practical or intensely private, and that difference changes what a reader is choosing.
This five-book starter collection compares the arrangements in the publisher premises. It is not a ranked best-of list, and the books do not all use the same trope. Choose the reason for the bargain before treating the titles as interchangeable recommendations.

What do you want the agreement to change?
For a public performance, look toward fake dating or a fake engagement. For a relationship negotiated in private, an intimate arrangement may be closer to what you want. An alliance between supernatural communities adds political stakes that extend beyond how a couple looks to other people.

When “like this” needs a closer question
If fake dating appeals because the characters have permission to show affection, you may enjoy a different bargain that creates similar permission. If your favorite part is fooling their friends, a private arrangement might miss the reason you liked the trope. Name that distinction before choosing a readalike.
A historical engagement makes social consequences part of the premise. A supernatural alliance moves some of the risk outside the relationship. Neither necessarily supplies the light, comic performance a reader may associate with fake dating.
The selection standard
Each setup is supported by a publisher or author premise already linked in the book record. We selected for meaningful differences in the agreement, including FF and MF relationships and contemporary, historical and paranormal settings. We have not assigned review scores or a comparative judgment about execution.
Olive and Adam agree to a relationship for appearances. Their arrangement unfolds in an academic science setting.

Three questions before you commit
How much external pressure do you want? Family expectations, academic work and supernatural politics place the agreement in different worlds. Do you want the performance to be public? A public deception and a private negotiation offer different kinds of tension. What information is essential? Check heat, ending and specific content guidance rather than letting the arrangement label answer all three.
Explore the precise relationship dynamic
Fake dating explains the public performance. Marriage of convenience explains a practical marital commitment. A fake engagement is not itself a verified marriage; retain that boundary when comparing books.
